Case Study Summary

Aveanna Healthcare partnered with SOLTECH to integrate its clinical, HR, and patient information systems as part of an initiative to consolidate clinical applications across its nationwide network. SOLTECH built, tested, and deployed integrations connecting myUnity Clinical with Aveanna’s existing systems, supporting the exchange of employee information, patient records, clinical documentation, and visit verification data. The solution streamlined clinical documentation workflows and supported coordinated data management across an organization with more than 200 branch offices.

“They are responsive, knowledgeable, and understand the urgency of what we are working through.”

Client: Aveanna Healthcare

Aveanna Healthcare provides home healthcare services to children and adults across the United States. At the time of the engagement, the organization operated more than 200 branch offices across 25 states and provided care services to more than 50,000 patients.

Business Goals: Unified Clinical Operations

Aveanna wanted to consolidate multiple clinical applications into a more unified system for recording patient visits, clinical documentation, and other essential care information.

The organization needed information to move reliably between its clinical platform, existing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, and HR applications. Improving how these systems exchanged data would help Aveanna streamline administrative processes, support care coordination, and reduce the complexity of managing information across its network.

They needed key data to flow seamlessly between their HR solution, their EMR, and the new clinical solution.

Business Challenge: Disconnected Clinical Systems

Aveanna’s field clinicians used multiple EMR applications to record patient visits, OASIS assessments, diagnosis codes, and other clinical documentation. Managing these separate applications created a need for more consistent workflows and better coordination of information.

As Aveanna worked to consolidate its clinical field applications, it needed to maintain connections between its existing EMR, Workday, and the new clinical platform.

The scale of the organization added complexity. With more than 200 branches and a workforce of over 50,000 caregivers, Aveanna needed integrations capable of handling employee information, patient records, clinical documentation, and visit data across multiple systems.

“We greatly appreciate SOLTECH’s support with our projects and have enjoyed working with them.  They are responsive, knowledgeable, and understand the urgency of what we are working through.”

Solution: Integrated Data Exchange

Aveanna chose to add NetSmart’s myUnity Clinical (formerly DeVero) to their system. They commissioned SOLTECH to build, test and deploy the solution. Our solution architect managed the integration between myUnity Clinical, their EMR, and Workday (their HR and accounting system). The integrations we did included:

  • Integrating the worker and user data of at least 50,000 staff members from Workday into myUnity and Active Directory.
  • Pulling patient, payer, and physician information into myUnity Clinical from the EMR.
  • Pulling OASIS visits and Diagnosis codes from myUnity Clinical into the EMR
  • Pulling visit clock in and clock out information from myUnity Clinical into Aveanna’s custom EVV (Electronic Visit Verification).

Project Highlights

  • Unified Systems: Consolidation of multiple EMR systems into a single platform to streamline processes.
  • Enhanced Data Management: Improved accuracy and efficiency in data handling across different departments.
  • Scalability: The solution was scaled to handle the data of over 50,000 caregivers and numerous patients effectively.
  • Real-Time Data Access: Enabled real-time access to critical data, enhancing decision-making and care delivery.

Impact: Connected Care Operations

The integration of myUnity Clinical gave Aveanna a more streamlined approach to recording patient visits, managing clinical documentation, and tracking visit-related information.

With the necessary systems connected, Aveanna gained a more unified set of tools better suited to its clinical and administrative needs. The project supported its broader effort to simplify clinical operations across its extensive healthcare network.
