Custom Data Transfer for Printing Company
Case Study
Client
Gill Reprographics is a trusted provider of blueprint and signage printing services, supporting architects and general contractors across the country. With 11 locations nationwide, they specialize in delivering high-quality prints for construction and architectural projects.
Business Goals
Gill Reprographics set out to modernize their file transfer system to better support their growing customer base and multi-location operations.
Their primary goal was to recreate and improve the file submission experience with a secure, scalable solution they could fully own and manage. In addition to enabling customers to send large blueprint files directly to the correct store location, they wanted the flexibility to customize the interface—specifically to incorporate marketing and promotional content around the order form.
By partnering with SOLTECH, Gill Reprographics aimed to streamline digital orders, reduce manual processing, and lay the groundwork for long-term business continuity. They needed a reliable, user-friendly system that would eliminate friction in the ordering process and scale with the company’s continued growth.
Business Challenge
Before partnering with SOLTECH, Gill Reprographics lacked an efficient system for receiving large blueprint files. Customers often relied on email—a method limited by file size and lacking routing control—resulting in delays, miscommunications, and lost files, especially when documents needed to reach specific store locations.
Compounding the issue, their existing file upload form was hosted on a third-party developer’s account. Not only did this leave them without ownership of the code or platform, but the developer was unresponsive, creating serious limitations in support, updates, and functionality. As their business expanded, it became clear that this setup was not scalable or sustainable. These challenges revealed a critical need for a modern digital infrastructure that could support long-term growth and operational consistency.
“Our customers can't send files through email, so we needed a program that would send files directly to our stores.”
“SOLTECH has been nothing but professional. The team is very communicative and on top of everything. Even before we ask questions, they’re already seeing what they need to change. So, it’s been a great partnership so far.”
– Wade Johnson, VP of Operations, Gill Reprographics
Solutions
SOLTECH delivered a custom web-based file transfer application tailored to Gill Reprographics’ business needs. The new solution replaced their outdated, third party-managed system and was built within an Azure environment owned by Gill Reprographics, giving the company full control over their platform moving forward.
The redesigned system allows customers to easily upload large blueprint files and send them directly to the appropriate store location. To support the company’s printing workflow, the solution was designed to preserve the folder structure of incoming files, —an important detail for organizing complex print jobs. Additionally, the platform was embedded in an i-frame, allowing space for marketing and promotional content alongside the order form—something Gill Reprographics had previously been unable to manage with their legacy setup.
The application uses Azure Blob Storage to handle large file uploads and includes background processing to route orders efficiently. The result is a stable, user-friendly system that supports daily operations and provides a strong foundation for future growth.

Impact
The custom file transfer solution has delivered long-term business continuity and operational efficiency for Gill Reprographics. By regaining control of their platform and eliminating reliance on a third-party developer, the team is now empowered to make updates, scale the system, and support future initiatives. The ability to upload large files—while preserving structure and routing them accurately—has significantly reduced the time staff spends managing orders, allowing them to focus on service and production. Customers now experience a smoother, more reliable order process, and the internal team has seen fewer errors, less rework, and faster turnaround times.
In addition, the new platform’s marketing flexibility enables Gill Reprographics to promote key services directly on the order form—turning a once purely functional interface into a brand-building opportunity. With this infrastructure in place, they are well-positioned to scale operations across all 11 locations and adapt as business needs evolve.
