CUSTOM VIDEO PLATFORM
Case Study
Client
CulturaLink partners with healthcare organizations to improve patient-centered care and create an effective, diverse workforce through services focused on diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence. They also provide best-in-class consulting along with comprehensive translation and interpretation in more than 200 languages.
Business Challenge
CulturaLink was using an outdated system that involved their clients having to call into a call center to receive translation services manually. In order to stay competitive in the market, CulturaLink realized it was imperative for them to have a virtual solution and a video-based application was the best approach. They needed to quickly pivot how they were offering their services to keep up in the market space. CulturaLink’s goal was to automate its service by creating a complex video interpreting system that uses an IPAD in hospitals to communicate to interpreters all over the country.
When looking for a solution partner, CulturaLink considered a few other vendors before they came to SOLTECH. They chose our company because our team of technical experts took the time not only to understand their business challenges, but we also helped them map out an ideal solution. Because CulturaLink’s management team was working to become a SaaS company, they asked us to work with their team to develop the solution.
To meet business objectives, the new solution would need to be able to schedule translators globally and remain HIPPA compliant, following all healthcare industry regulations. They also needed a quick project turnaround to regain a competitive market share.

Solution
SOLTECH & CulturaLink’s team worked together to customize and combine existing platforms developing the base structure for the video and scheduling tool. Our teams worked together to create wireframes that re-imagined the customer and employee experience. We updated the user interface using the JavaScript technology React, HTML & CSS, and built the backend using NodeJS. The solution was hosted and supported on Amazon Web Service (AWS) cloud.
To make the solution secure, we utilized AWS compliance services. Using React Native, we were able to develop an application with the following features: Patient/Provider request and notifications for translation services, an after call rating feature, a queue that routed patients with proper providers to schedule video calls, an admin panel for reports and features for onboarding new translators. We worked agilely with CulturaLink’s team to continually meet the ever-changing needs of its customers, incorporating those updates and feature enhancements in real-time.
Impact
Our team was able to help CulturaLink develop and launch a web-based platform for video translation services within the project’s timeframe and budget. CulturaLink was able to provide this new service to their existing customers and offer it to their new clientele of doctors and hospitals. Before the new solution was developed, they had trouble closing large hospital deals. After the application launched, they were able to start signing large hospitals almost immediately. Because CulturaLink was happy with the web-based solution, they asked us to create a mobile solution.
