SOLTECH Spotlight: Nael Alismail, Solutions Architect

Solutions Architect, Nael Alismail, made his way to Atlanta three years ago, by way of Birmingham, Alabama. He has a Masters of Science in Software Engineering from The University of West Florida, and once spent several days kayaking down a river in rural Alabama (cue the banjo music). Nael is a dad, a husband, a creative thinker, a crucial asset to the SOLTECH development team, and this week, he’s in the Spotlight!
Introducing Nael Alismail…
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
Either become president for a day or run a Fortune 500 company. It would be great to have my boundaries pushed way past my abilities.
What is one project you’ve worked on at SOLTECH that really challenged you?
I would say the biggest challenges aren’t the projects, but the people. Software projects can be complex, and getting everyone on the same page can be difficult. I’ve found using great communication tools helps both clients and developers understand the goals of a project. That’s the greatest challenge for me. I love to code and lead teams, but documentation isn’t my strong suit. I have found though, that using those communication tools help when building great software.
Do you have a guilty pleasure you can share with us?
Watching Million Dollar Listing New York with my wife. Not a huge fan of reality shows, but I get more excited about that show than I probably should.
If you were in a band that sang only technology related songs, what would you name the band?
Funktional – We’d be a super funk band following in the style of James Brown and P-Funk. Hmm, I might have to start this one. Anyone want to join?
What was the worst job you ever had?
Working as a waiter in a failing chain restaurant. Bad tips are the worst!
What is your favorite thing about working for SOLTECH?
I really like the fast pace. There’s always a lot to do, and it changes constantly. Also, I’m lucky enough that I get along with everyone. I like the folks here. Everyone is different, but everyone’s differences make it interesting.
What would you choose as your last meal on Earth?
If I die and go to heaven, I could eat Dolma Every.Single.Day!
