Lunch and Learn Series: Angular 2

Change is inevitable, it’s frustrating—and, it’s necessary. As an engineer, that’s the mindset you must live in. New technologies are being introduced at breakneck speed and it’s hard to keep up. Unfortunately, sometimes these technologies come in hot and fade out fast (like a quick, intense fad of the 90s) leaving us with a wealth of outdated or useless knowledge… or a closet full of “priceless” Beanie Babies.

Angular was not one of those fads. Actually, we loved it so much, they made us another—Angular 2.

What Is Angular?

Angular is by far the most popular JavaScript framework for web development. AngularJS is a development platform for building mobile and desktop applications; it’s a complete JavaScript-based open-source front-end web application framework, mainly maintained by Google.

If you’ve ever tried finding The Home Depot nearest to you, you’ve used an application built using AngularJS. Other notable Angular users are Tesla, Google, NASDAQ, and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Why Angular 2?

The developers asked, Angular answered.

Building off an already strong foundation, Angular 2 is a faster, more powerful, cleaner, and easier to use tool than its predecessor, Angular 1. Angular 2 is also bringing new JavaScript standards and using best-practices developed in the years after the first Angular release, keeping software development malleable and ingenuitive.

Without further ado, here to give you a quick overview of some of the best Angular 2 features, is today’s Lunch and Learn host, Sam Langberg:
